lyrics

Hey it’s me, can I talk to you for a sec?
Tell you about the things that make me tick?

Well, you don’t know fear until you’ve looked around the room and thought
Oh boy these people actually care about politics
Bear a silent suit & tie and fully argumentative
But no one to convince when conviction is imperative
The truth is that I’m weak, I struggle to align
I’m scared any conflict will push me far behind
I’d love to tell you all the things I hope for my fate
But you’ve snookered me well, so I give in mate.

Dear Josie: I wanna say I’m sorry for the things I fake
I worry so much about me, I couldn’t care less for your sake
I’m so scared of death even though I shouldn’t be
I keep it hushed and quiet with a room around me
So how do you expect me to voice up and keep it straight
When you’re lecturing me how to hate
I’m just a boy who wished he could sing
But you won’t listen to the quiet voice, the softest melody lingering.

We talk for hours, around in circles, but there’s no solution
That hasn’t left me on my knees, drowning in pollution
Every turn I’ve made has taken me from you
I am a beggar, this I know is true

I long for a place where my world don’t revolve around wealth
I hope for a day when you can save me from myself
Waging a war for ourselves, only one thing is true
We are beggars, and we are nothing without you.

I feel it stuck in the avenue
There's no voice that could broaden your revenue
There's no freedom with opinions on copyright
We keep it out of sight, so drain the fortitude
What if I was to stray from the norm, would that fit on your form
Or do I need a licence?
Not to speak but to listen, yeah that's what you're missing
It's a human trait, not rocket science

There was a video game I used to spend my time on
Where I searched across the fields on my motorbike
Through the plains and the valleys I'd accelerate
Through the pitch black cold of the night
And from the highest mountain I leaped, towards the glow of the city
And my parachute to me into the mist
It was so beautiful, it felt so real
Nothing in this world could harm me where freedom kissed

But look up, the sky fills with clouds like popcorn
On a horizon far away from unknown
It's coming soon, it's just a moment away
And soon I will be covered over.
